When I speak with my potential client on the phone and we’re deciding if we want to work together, 95% of the women tell me
- that if they had their version of an ideal wardrobe,
- and getting dressed could be the way they’d always imagined,
- and they had the image they wanted and were putting out to the world exactly what they wanted everyone to know about them…
They’d be more CONFIDENT!
These aren’t unconfident women! These are women who are successful! We’re talking attorney’s, physicians, CPA’s, CEO’s, and other executives…even stay at home mom’s (come on, that’s a hard job!)
They all agree that they’d have more confidence. And that’s what I help my clients do!
Just the other day I saw a video of Carly Kloss (Klossy.) She said, “Fashion can make anyone feel like the very best versions of themselves.”
I couldn’t agree more…but with one caveat. I’d replace the word “fashion” with “style” or “personal style” because fashion isn’t always style, but that’s another whole blog post, lol!
As I mentioned earlier, this is exactly how I help my clients.
Today I want to give you 3 Simple Steps you can use to get started to becoming and feeling confident and your very best version of yourself EVERY DAY.
3 Simple Steps to Look & Feel More Confident Every Day
- Ask yourself when the last time was that you felt really amazing in an outfit. You may not have an automatic answer; it may require a little bit of thought.
For me-I always feel my very best when I’m dressed up going out to a women’s networking luncheon or something like that. I’ve got dressy clothes on—maybe it’s a dress. Maybe it’s business casual separates. I usually have heels on. My hair is done; my make-up is done. And I have coordinating jewelry and accessories.
And I look in the mirror and think, “yeah, I feel amazing! I got it goin’ on!”
That’s the feeling you’re looking for.
A lot of clients will tell me it was for their company Christmas/Holiday party. They had the dress and the shoes and the jewelry…all coordinated.
Really think about it. What do you get compliments on? What do you love wearing?
- Next, go into your closet and see what you have that fall into those categories.
So (again, lol) for me, I ask “What other dresses with heels that are going to make me feel great.”
Maybe for you it was the jewelry you wore to the company party. What else can you wear that jewelry with?
Start replicating, but don’t settle! Don’t settle for “it’s just okay.” You’re not going to feel amazing in “just OK.”
Let’s say for you, (your amazing feeling outfit) is having the exact look-the exact jewelry, shoes, accessories, etc., but you don’t have all of the pieces to make it work out perfectly, make it your task. Get that one last missing piece.
It doesn’t have to be a huge shopping trip, but just do it. But make yourself a goal to do it!
- The third step is to really start being conscious of how you feel in your clothes every day.
Every day before you leave the house, look at yourself in the mirror and check in with how you feel.
“Do I feel amazing?”
If not…change your clothes! You don’t have time in your day to be distracted, wondering whether you look good and feel good and have everything right in your outfit.
If you have to change into an outfit you wore earlier in the week (to feel amazing) it’s okay. (Unfortunately, we can’t wear the same clothes every day, but…) People aren’t going to notice you’re wearing the same thing.
People are looking and thinking about themselves. They don’t look at you nearly as much as you may think.
It’s all about how you feel. And you deserve to feel amazing!
So again, start being conscious about how you feel in your clothes. It will start to become a reflexive muscle response, a habit. Take a moment to look in the mirror and see how you look and feel instead of rushing out the door, only to later stop and realize, “ooh, I don’t like this. I’m not feeling great” You’re not going to feel great all day.
