Currently a trend for fall/winter, maxi cardigans also known as duster cardigans, are long length sweaters that hit anywhere between just below the knee and the ankle. I particularly like the trend, because it feels fresh, stylish, and new without being ridiculously trendy. Plus, they’re super versatile! Here are a few tips for wearing the style: Maxi cardigans are best in neutral colors made of fine gauge knit. It’s a lot of fabric on your body, so it is easy to become overwhelmed. If you’re tall, you can wear a thicker knit (or possibly even a pattern) that hits at ankle [..] read more

11 Wardrobe Basics to Upgrade Your Personal Style
Before I started my business, I didn’t pay any attention to wardrobe basics. As a matter of fact, I actually learned the term when I took my first image consulting training. I don’t think I had many, if any essentials other than black pants and blue jeans. What I did have was a jam packed closet with a lot of clothes I didn’t wear. Retro Look-Classic Color Scheme
I got an e-mail the other day from Anthropologie and even after going to the web site haven’t been able to delete it. I absolutely love this look! With this next statement, you’ll think I’m crazy, but I could never wear the sweater (wrong green-wrong pattern-too bulky,) and I’m not crazy about plaid. It’s a classic color combo and can be worn year round; And it’s perfectly professional (business casual) to boot! The skirt? While I don’t love [..] read more
The Power of Basics
I can’t say enough about the power and ease of basics. Basics are the pieces in your wardrobe that are simple and provide a canvas for the more exciting, detailed, or decorated pieces. I’ll share a personal story to illustrate. The other day I was pre pre-shopping and made a little purchase for myself, the sweater to the right. I couldn’t wait to wear my new sweater the next day, but I was in a bit of a hurry when I was dressing. So, I looked for some basics to pair it with. I ended up with a black pencil [..] read more
Parisian Suits
Even though most of the women I saw in Paris were dressed in a business casual mode, a few days into my trip, I saw a few women in suits. They were traditional pantsuits with an interesting twist. The women tied sweaters around their necks as was the popular ‘80’s style here in the U.S. The sweaters they were sporting around their necks appeared to be very slim styles made of very smooth, lightweight knits, probably cotton/silk blends. The few that I saw were light colors and were very carefully placed, folded and tucked just so, so that the sweater [..] read more
