What to wear to a wedding when you work all of the time!

Wedding to Office

In my last post, I shared how to choose a dress for a wedding and be able to wear it again even if you live a fairly casual lifestyle.

Today’s post is all about how to turn a dress for a wedding into an office worthy show stopper! As always, you’ll definitely want to determine your body shape and choose a dress silhouette that’s flattering for you.

When you receive that wedding invitation to a good friend or loved one’s wedding, you’ll want to, choose a somewhat basic, dressy dress that can be dressed up for the nuptials and party and dressed down for the office.

For the most part, a solid colored frock is the way to go! Clearly you’re not wearing white, but unless you’re totally married to black dresses, a fun, festive color will help you stand out and have a great time. Instead of a Little Black Dress, think of it as a little blue dress, or a little fuchsia dress!

Does your dress need to be completely void of personality? Heck no! A special detail or fabric is the way you look like the boss!

Your strategy is very much like desk to dinner, except it will be wedding to desk!

“Look Like a Boss”!

If your dress is sleeveless, you’ll want to find a jacket or cardigan to pop over it for work.

Step out in a statement shoe such as a strappy satin or jeweled sandal for the wedding and more sensible pumps for the office.

For jewelry, the sky is your limit! Since your dress will be somewhat basic, your jewelry can be the star for the wedding or office. For the wedding, you may want sparkly or extra trendy jewels. Simply choose jewelry for work that will be eye catching but won’t outshine you.

Here’s a closer look at the dress in the collages and a second I think is beautiful, too! Wrap dresses flatter most figures and are super comfy to boot! (If you need a little more coverage, there are tons of cute camis and half camis that will fill in the gap.)

This dress has just a little bit different styling. Lacing is a big trend. You’ll need a little longer torso for this dress.
