With all the devastation our country and its surrounding countries are facing with the hurricanes, earthquakes, recent floods and wild fires, I just don’t feel right reporting on fashion this week.
If feels callous and irresponsible for me to be telling you what’s new to buy this fall season when so many are without their homes or fighting to save them. I am praying for all.
Yes, of course society dictates we must wear clothes, and yes, I love clothes and fashion, but so many are fighting for simple clothing (for protection from the elements,) food and shelter that fashion doesn’t feel like it ranks too highly right now. I don’t feel right emphasizing it.
No, I’m not saying to abandon your sense of personal style or your armor that helps you succeed and feel confident. I’m simply saying how I feel.
I also write this with an especially heavy heart, because today is the anniversary of 9/11. I remember exactly where I was when I heard the first report. At first the news didn’t even register in my brain. It was so surreal; so hard to believe.
So no, I’m just not feeling fashion today. Instead I am practicing extreme gratitude for all I have in my life.
This is the first blog post I’ve ever written like this. If you tuned into my blog today hoping for a fashion fix, please do not worry. I have many awesome posts you’ll love planned for this fall. And I urge you to look around and even search out a topic in my archives from the past 10 years!
But for now, instead of fashion, I’m feeling for those in need and those who need an extra hug today.
