Jewelry can make the difference between just getting dressed and BEING dressed, looking completely put together.
But in working with my clients, I’ve noticed that a lot of women don’t actually own much jewelry or they’re not sure how to wear it.
Maybe you’ve got a few pieces stored in a drawer but never reach for them. Or maybe you’ve been wearing the same earrings for the last five years because styling jewelry feels confusing.
Not anymore!
Recently on 9News at 3 Alex, Sam and I talked all things jewelry. And it inspired me to expand and share everything you need to know.
Today, I’m breaking down easy jewelry styling tips that will help you accessorize with confidence, mix and match pieces effortlessly, and take your outfits from so-so to seriously stunning.

6 Jewelry Styling Tips to Instantly Transform Your Outfits
1. Start Wearing Jewelry—It’s Magical!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worked with clients who have fabulous wardrobes but no accessories.
They put so much effort into their clothes but forget the little details that pull it all together…jewelry and accessories!
Here’s an analogy: A great outfit without accessories is like a cake without frosting.
Need more arguments for jewelry?
- Jewelry adds polish.
- It makes an outfit feel intentional.
- And in business, it sends the message that you pay attention to details—because you do!
2. Jewelry Styling Tips for Versatile Pieces (Not Just Casual Jewelry!)
Something else I see is that women tend to gravitate toward super casual pieces they find at art festivals or fairs.
The issue? Casual jewelry drags down the look of a business or dressy looks.
On the other hand, dressy or even simple, classic gold/silver jewelry can be worn dressed up OR down.
Here are some ideas for versatile pieces to get you started:
💎Simple gold or silver hoops
💎 A signature pendant necklace
💎 A long strand of interesting pearls (psst…see tip #3.)
3. Jewelry Styling Tips: Try Pearls & Bold Chains
Right now, pearls and bold chain necklaces are everywhere.
The good news? Both are easy to wear!
✨ Layer pearls with a chunky chain necklace for a cool, modern mix.
✨ Try a pair of drop style baroque pearl earrings
✨ Combine daintier paperclip chain necklaces with other favorites for a substantial look.
And REMEMBER: If you love how something looks on you, wear it! Don’t stress about whether it’s “right”!
4. Jewelry Styling Tips for Mixing Metals Like a Pro
I often get questions about how to mix gold and silver...
The answer is yes, please, do it! (It’s still very on trend!)
The key is to make it look intentional instead of random, here’s how:
✅ Start with one piece that already has mixed metals—like earrings that combine gold & silver.
✅ Add single-metal pieces that match—like stacking a few gold and silver bangles.
For more conservative business settings, you may want to balance the number of gold and silver pieces you wear, but otherwise, there’s no real right or wrong way to wear more than one metal.
5. Create a "Beauty Bundle" for quick and easy accessorizing
A Beauty Bundle is a group of accessories that always look great together.
💡 Example: a pink and gold necklace, gold hoops, a pink belt with a gold buckle and even a pink purse**. (Yes, I know that’s matchy-matchy…you could easily create a beauty bundle with edgier mixed metals instead!)
**Psst...If you're curious about how to find a handbag that'll work just as hard for you as the jewelry we're talking about, check out the post How to Choose a Handbag You'll Actually Love.
Once you put together a few go-to combos, accessorizing becomes effortless. No overthinking—just grab, go, and look fabulous!
Even a white tee and jeans becomes an OUTFIT when you add a Beauty Bundle!
6. The jewelry styling tips that ALWAYS works!
Not sure what jewelry pieces to wear together?
Here’s my simple formula for easy, breezy accessorizing:
👉 Choose ONE statement piece. A bold necklace? Large earrings? Pick one thing to be the star.
👉 Add a second, subordinate piece. If you’re wearing large earrings, go for a smaller necklace.
👉 Add a third, even smaller accent. (If you want…2 pieces of jewelry may be enough for you.) A delicate bracelet or a simple ring finishes the look.
✨ Example: Wearing a chunky chain necklace? Pair it with smaller hoops and a simple bracelet.
This keeps your look balanced and intentional, without taking away interest from your outfit.
