The Biggest Fashion Trend for 2018

Pantone recently announced its color palette for spring of 2018 (very exciting…to me, anyway) and the fashion world is touting BRIGHT COLORS as the biggest trend for the year. I gotta admit…I like my summer wardrobe so much better than my winter wardrobe. The reason? Spring/summer colors are so much brighter and feel happier than fall/winters dark subdued shades. So why can’t we wear brights in the winter? I can’t think of any reason whatsoever! And I’m planning on experimenting a bit with the brights in my closet. Maybe, just maybe I won’t even pair them with neutrals. Today, I plan [..] read more

The 5 Best Boots for Fall 2017

Boots and booties have been the “it” shoe for fall many years running, so you probably have your basics in place. Instead of simply updating, adding, or replacing your same basics, this year’s boot styles allow for ultimate newness in your fall wardrobe. The thing I’m loving the most about this fall’s boot trend is the availability at all price points! Often times, when a trend is newer, you’ll only find it at very high prices. But this year, you can find any of the styles I’m showing from very low pricing to over $1000 (um, pretty high in my [..] read more

Wine, Velvet and Florals, Oh My!

I had you at wine, didn’t I? In my post on Mauve last week, I had the hardest time limiting myself to talking about just one color. Since I’ve been seeing so many great color combos, such as mauve and wine, and interesting trends this fall, this week, I’m featuring 3 fall 2017 trends! Wine! Yep, I love to drink it and wear it! While wine as a fashion color doesn’t exactly sound new, it actually is. While the hue’s big sister, burgundy, is closer to purple and has been popular a few autumns now, wine is more red. Think [..] read more

How to Wear Mauve for Fall

When I featured this mauve coat in a post about color combinations, I hadn’t really thought about how popular the color is this season. The fashion industry has been touting pink as a big trend for the past several seasons, and this season Pantone (the color experts) is calling it “ballet slipper pink.” It’s a very, very, very light shade of pink, but it seems to hint (to my eye) at being mauve with massive amounts of white added to it. We’ve discussed it before—extremely light pastels like Ballet Slipper can be very hard to wear for many women, actually [..] read more

I’m Just Not Feeling It Today

With all the devastation our country and its surrounding countries are facing with the hurricanes, earthquakes, recent floods and wild fires, I just don’t feel right reporting on fashion this week. If feels callous and irresponsible for me to be telling you what’s new to buy this fall season when so many are without their homes or fighting to save them. I am praying for all. Yes, of course society dictates we must wear clothes, and yes, I love clothes and fashion, but so many are fighting for simple clothing (for protection from the elements,) food and shelter that fashion [..] read more
